Rucht D’Oleo-Schwartz, CEO, Fashion Institute of Florida

Rucht D’Oleo-Schwartz, a passionate and hardworking fashion designer, author, and founder of the Fashion Institute of Florida (FIF), is dedicated to nurturing talent in the fashion industry. She established FIF in 2016 to cater to the South Florida community’s interest in sewing, pattern-making, and fashion design. The institute attracts diverse students, from a 48-year-old mother pursuing her dreams to a 16-year-old aspiring designer.

Ms. D’Oleo-Schwartz, who immigrated to Miami from the Dominican Republic in 2001, has achieved significant accolades, including the Keys of Miami Dade in 2009. She authored “El Negocio de la Moda,” the first Spanish-language book on the business of fashion, widely adopted in Latin American fashion schools. She has also spoken at international fashion symposiums and judged an international fashion student competition in Poland in 2017. Her dream of transforming lives through fashion is realized daily as she watches her students achieve their goals.

Flourentina West, CEO, FLL Fashion Week

Florentina West, CEO and Executive Producer of FLL Fashion Week, is a former model and proud mother of a beautiful daughter. Under her leadership, FLL Fashion Week has become one of Fort Lauderdale’s premier fashion events, showcasing her unwavering commitment to elevating the fashion community.

Theo Azael, Fashion Designer, Theo Azael Couture

Theo Azael’s style incorporates raw edges and distressed fabrics, termed deconstructionism, reflecting his unconventional design philosophy. His Cardinal Points collection at FLL FASHION WEEK 2023 disrupted traditional norms, blending fantasy with a darker theme. Inspired by Jacques Derrida’s philosophy, Azael challenges conventional beauty standards, emphasizing the multiplicity of perspectives in fashion. His recent couture collection showcased at FLL FASHION WEEK embraced confrontational design, featuring worn and altered garments that epitomize deconstruction. While initially controversial, deconstruction has become a staple in fashion, with Azael’s work poised to reveal the hidden energy within each couture piece.

Ruth Louissaint, Fashion Designer, Ruth Louissaint Designs

Ruth Louissaint, born in Port-au-Prince, developed a passion for fashion through her seamstress mother. After moving to Miami, she pursued her dreams, winning a Technical Design award at Louise Salinger Academy of Fashion. Her journey continued with degrees in fashion design and business. Inspired by French designers, she aims to infuse storytelling into her creations. In 2003, she established Mlle. Louissaint in North Miami, specializing in couture and one-of-a-kind designs. Her work, including wedding gowns and accessories, has graced boutiques across South Florida and Atlanta, worn by notable figures and featured in magazines and films.
